Thank you for your interest in the CHS Journalism Program. Journalism is a great way to get involved in CHS as a voice for your fellow classmates and a historian of the school year. We love what we do here and think you will, too.

Journalism is open to all students (grades 9-12) who are interested, but there are some things you should keep in mind before you apply.

If all this sounds good, feel free to add Advanced Journalism (newspaper) or Publications Journalism (yearbook) to your course selection list and fill out this form. We will have a meeting in April to get everyone's schedule figured out.
- All publications classes are a-g electives which means you will be able to use them for your UC/CSU applications.

- You don't have to be a great writer to be in journalism. We need photographers, artists, graphic designers, videographers, and business managers. We need great writers, too, so if you love to write and want to try something new, come join us.

- We will take any grade level. Freshmen to seniors are welcome here.

- There is some after school commitment requirements. If you are a staff member you will have to attend after school activities and work days throughout the year. It isn't a ton, but you will have to do work outside of class.

- Journalism is a full year elective. Please do not sign up if you can't be in the class for the entire year.

- Journalism classes require students who are motivated and independent. If you are horrible at meeting deadlines and turn all your work in late, these probably aren't the best classes for you. If you don't like school and hate working hard, this class will frustrate you. We are looking for dedicated students who are excited about CHS and the things our students do.
