Class descriptions:

FOUNDATIONS OF COFFEE provides an overview of the world of specialty coffee, tracking its history and development as a commodity and beverage, processing systems at origin, roasting principles, and fundamentals of brewing. Includes a tour of Higher Grounds production facility and a comparative coffee tasting.

BREW METHODS 101 explores the variables of extraction across four different brewing methods: Aeropress, Hario 60, Chemex, and French press.

ESPRESSO FUNDAMENTALS 1 introduces new baristas to the concept of espresso, Specialty Coffee Association preparation protocol, milk steaming basics, and definitions of espresso-based beverages.

ESPRESSO FUNDAMENTALS 2 picks up where part 1 leaves off, incorporating hands-on practice with "dialing in" an espresso recipe and building drinks, as well as a preview of latte art basics.

LATTE ART starts with the building blocks of all latte art designs: properly steamed, high quality milk. We'll learn about milk science and then practice steaming and pouring monk's heads and hearts.

ADVANCED LATTE ART is for those who can already pour monk's heads and hearts confidently and consistently. Building on the basics, we'll practice tulips and rosettas as well.
