CRiSTL, which stands for Creativity & Identity: An American-Muslim Art Exhibition -St.Louis, is a CAIR-MO sponsored event showcasing Muslim art. The goal of CRiSTL is to strengthen unity between the artists, inspiring more Muslims with a knack for expression to venture further with their talent. The idea was originally thought out in 2017 by CAIR-MO intern Yusra Ali, who shed new light on the acronym of CAIR-MO, Council on American-Islamic Relations Missouri. Yusra believed that communication was key to building relations and that art was the universal form of communication. In hopes of building bridges between Muslims, the community, and fine arts, Yusra pushed to plan an exhibit where she imagines Muslims of all ages will be inspired to create and express themselves.
CRiSTL 2019 goals haven't changed. With the help of the community, CRiSTL 2019 hopes to build a very needed bridge between Muslims and Art. CRiSTL 2019 wants to showcase the importance of creativity in our lives as Muslims and Americans. This year it will be help on Saturday evening, April 20th, at the Sheldon Concert Hall, a block away from CAM.
