Be Queer, Make Space
To us, the theme calls to mind how we hold space for ourselves and actively make space for all queer identities - we want to not only break down the systems that oppress us but actively work to dismantle oppression within queer communities. How are we showing up for each other? For example:
- Decolonization - coming together to take back what is ours
- Understanding, honoring, and celebrating all of our identities
- Interrupting injustice both outside and inside our communities
- Forming new friendships / sharing experiences as a way to think about others and not just think about yourself
- Showing up for each other / love looks different for all of us
- Our experiences are all different from each other - we might use the same word, but mean different things - letting people self identify - not assuming shared experience.
How do we make space? Do we imagine new galaxies of possibilities, where we exist beyond our oppression? Do we make space in the here and now, for those in our orbit and beyond?
