The Finley Awards began in 1996. Longtime educator/coach Robert O. Finley, who served at Hoover's W.A. Berry High School from 1963-1994, provided the inspiration for the awards program. Coach Finley was known for his outstanding character and was a role model for thousands of students and student-athletes throughout Hoover.
Other reasons nominations will be disqualified:
-A nomination from the individual (student or employee).-A nomination from any family member(s) of the individual being nominated.-A nomination from members of the Finley Committee.-A nomination that doesn't include all the required information requested on the form.
Notes about recommendation letters: -There must be a minimum of 3 letters and no more than 5 letters in the nomination packet. -Letters that exceed 1 page in length will not be included in the nomination packet.
Members of the Finley Committee for Character Education are not eligible to receive The Finley Award.
Letters of Recommendation should be no longer than one page each. Nominations with fewer than three (3) letters of recommendation will be disqualified.
