Dear Parents

VOLUNTARY CONTRIBUTIONS – ST. JOHN’S NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT

We do hope that your child is/your children are enjoying their time at St. John’s.

We know that times are challenging for our whole school community and we are grateful as always to parents for the support you continue to give to our school.

Along with many other schools up and down the country, St. John’s is facing substantial gaps in its budget. This means that the voluntary Annual Contribution you make to support our school is more important than ever and Governors therefore are writing to ask that you continue, if you financially are able to do so, to make those payments. If you have not paid before please consider joining the Annual Contribution Scheme. It will make such a big difference to the experience of all children at our school.

The contribution currently stands at £14 per month or £168 per year per child.

It includes contributions towards:

  • our costs to run the pool and the on-site and regular swimming lessons that your child/your children are so fortunate to benefit from. £100 of your contribution enables us to employ our own swimming teacher and cover the extensive running costs of our pool. It provides a weekly swimming lesson for your child at a small fraction of the cost of private lessons at a local pool.
  • our financial obligation to the London Diocesan Board for Schools (LDBS) which we have in common with other highly regarded and sought-after Church of England schools in the area. This is a non-negotiable payment which we have to make based on the number of pupils attending our school. Membership of this scheme ensures that our school premises will be maintained to a high standard and the school can access funds held centrally by the LDBS for major projects beyond the financial scope of the school. Planned future projects such as the repair of the flat roof and the installation of air source heat pumps would be beyond our financial reach; membership of the scheme means that we would never have to pay more than 10% of the cost of such projects (sometimes costs are met in full).
  • our enhancement of the curriculum and the additional opportunities enjoyed by your children.

The Governing Body appreciate that times are difficult and that should there be any circumstances that prevent you from paying the Annual Contribution please do not hesitate to contact me via the school or by email arynhold.302@lgflmail.org.  All correspondence will be dealt with in the strictest confidence.

Also enclosed with this letter is a Gift Aid Declaration section which enables the school to benefit by a further 20% on donations made.  Again I urge you to complete and return this form to the school.

If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact me using the email address above.

Yours faithfully

Adam Rynhold
