Petition to Keep Our Sea Plastic Free
Emerald Keepers is proposing Coronado reduce waste and plastic pollution through city ordinances that:

» Prohibit use, distribution, and sale of:
  • Polystyrene (styrofoam) containers, coolers, packing material, and food trays. 
  • Single-use plastic straws, stirrers, and utensils 
  • Single-use plastic beverage bottles (under 2 liters)
  • Balloons
» Require reusable foodware with on premise dining 
» Make disposable foodware accessories available only on request
» Institute a charge for disposable cups  
» Prohibit single-use plastic bags:
  • Offer paper or another recyclable material carryout bags
  • Charge for paper or recycleable carryout bags 
  • Provide non-plastic produce bags
