Survivor, your story is powerful, and before it is anything else, it is YOURS. We are collecting survivor stories of spiritual abuse to try to help history prove the scale, scope, and degree of spiritual abuse in the American church. We want to gather demographic information to help begin to demonstrate the scope of the problem to good-faith large donors, and that means bringing to them the human cost and human scope of suffering that we have all endured, and that so many more continue to endure.
If you're willing, please consider also making your survivor story available for other survivors to read, or for portions of your story to be retold through Deconstruction Doulas channels (podcasts, blog posts, etc.). There's a section at the bottom that lays out the details.
IMPORTANT: When telling your survivor story, please change all identifying details for your safety and the safety of others. Survivor stories with personally identifying info will be deleted for the safety of the submitter.
Remember: you don't owe anyone your story. We're grateful to have it, but no one is entitled. Stop at any point along the way. If you share but then regret it, please reach out at info@deconstructiondoulas.com and we will remove it from our files immediately.
