To be eligible for the scholarship, a student must demonstrate strong financial need (based on family income and number of dependents), have an un-weighted GPA of 3.0, and have a clearly identified career goal. Community service, job experience, and extracurricular activities are also considered.
The purpose of this scholarship is to help a deserving young adult from the community reach their career objective. It is a one year grant and is not renewable.
Three candidates from each high school will be nominated by their guidance department. Final selection of the winner from each high school will be made by a committee of the Summit Rotary Club following student interviews to be held on Saturday, April 27th at Starmount Presbyterian Church (located at 3501 West Market St., Greensboro, NC). No makeup interviews will be held. If you are unable to attend, your application will be evaluated based upon your written submission alone.
The McKnight Scholarship Program is partnering with the Say Yes to Education Guilford Program. The McKnight Scholarships will be awarded as an Opportunity Grant in addition to a “last dollar” tuition scholarship provided by Say Yes to Education.
