Palm Springs Public Library Interlibrary Loan Request Form

What are Interlibrary Loans?
Interlibrary Loans—commonly called ILLs—are requests to borrow materials from other libraries. The library borrows from and lends to libraries across the country on a daily basis; ILLs are a part of our routine services. To cover staff time and shipping, ILLs cost $5.00 per request. However, you can place a request free of charge: you will be charged a $5.00 fee only if a request is fulfilled.

Interlibrary Loans are ideal for:
  • hard to find and even out of print titles
  • formats not available through the Zip Books program (such as DVDs, Blu-Ray, music CDs and audiobooks)
  • copies of newspapers, magazines, journals and other periodicals
We do not recommend requesting items published in the last 6 months, as most libraries do not lend items that are currently new.

Before filling out the form below, please review the following:

Guidelines
  • Patrons must have a library card that is in good standing
  • Patrons are limited to 5 ILL requests at a time
  • Patron agrees to the $5.00 fee if a request is fulfilled. This fee must be paid in full before the item can be checked out. Placing a request is free.
  • Each request must be for a specific title
Please note
  • When filling out the form, the only required fields are FORMAT, TITLE and AUTHOR. Other fields, such as ISBN or EDITION, could limit your request—so please only include additional information if you are looking for a specific version. Examples include the 4th edition of a publication, a specific translation of a text, etc.
  • If you are requesting an article from a newspaper, magazine, journal, etc., please include as much information about the article as possible—publication year, page numbers, etc.— in the ADDITIONAL NOTES field.
  • Requests are processed quickly, but due to shipping times, some items may take a few weeks to arrive. Please indicate if you have a deadline.
  • Interlibrary loans (ILLs) are items from other libraries. We ask that you treat them with great care. Any damages to or loss of items are subject to fees assessed by the owning library.
  • Like all library materials, ILLs are not subject to late fees. However, returning ILLs late may result in the loss of ILL privileges.
  • Unless otherwise noted, ILLs can be returned in the automated return.
Please email the Interlibrary Loan department if you have any questions.
