Details for the Upcoming Podcasts
The first two topics of the LGBTQ podcast are: 1. Nonbinary identities, and 2. The LGBTQ Immigrant Experience.

If you identify neither as nonbinary nor as part of an immigrant diaspora, you can STILL participate in these podcasts by recording an interview with a member of your community who DOES identify as nonbinary or as part of an immigrant community. Alternatively, you can register as a guest for another podcast (please suggest the topic), or refer a guest.

1. NONBINARY IDENTITIES.
- Do you identify as existing beyond the limitations of strictly male or female gender identity or expression? We want to hear personal stories of self-inquiry and exploration that have been part of the process of identity formation. These may or may not tie into a Fulbright experience.
- If you have taken inspiration from historical figures, elders, or ancestors who were queer or existed outside the male-female dichotomy (even though they didn’t use modern terminology to describe themselves), we want to hear about examples of people in various periods of time who have forged their own identities and who have paved the way for all of us. How have they encouraged you to live your own truth?
- is there an LGBTQ elder or member of your community whose life experiences are of interest to you? Contact qhe@fulbrightprism.org for support in preparing you to record an interview with that person so their story can be included in the podcast.

2. THE QUEER IMMIGRANT EXPERIENCE.
- How does queer identity play into the decision or necessity to migrate in search of belonging, safety, and survival? How does queerness inform the place that an LGBTQ immigrant finds and creates for themself in the society they have entered into?
- We want to hear personal stories from members of LGBTQ immigrant communities. What did you give up and what did you gain through the experience of immigrating? What challenges and what sources of strength come from being queer in the different societies in which you have lived?
- We also want to hear from LGBTQ children of immigrants— how does having multicultural roots and life experience inform the expression of your gender and sexuality? How does having a queer sexuality or gender identity inform the ways that you express other aspects of your identity, such as your ethnicity, spirituality or religion, and other ways that you define who you are in the world?
- If you understand or speak more than one language, what differences do you see in the way queerness is conceptualized and experienced in different languages and cultures?

REMEMBER, we encourage you to participate whether you a) have personal experiences to share regarding these topics -- in which case Queer History and Education Coordinator Chris Curran will interview you for the pocast -- or b) you want to contribute to amplifying the voices of nonbinary people and immigrants by interviewing people in your community for the podcast. We can provide you with guidance and may be able to ship recording equipment for you to join the effort to document and share queer life histories.

3. FUTURE PODCASTS.
- Do you have an idea for a topic that deserves exploration and relates to queer life, culture, or history? Whether you want to participate directly in queer oral history or storytelling interviews (either as an interviewer or an interviewee) or you just want to share or propose ideas for future podcasts that we should consider, we welcome input! Contact qhe@fulbrightprism.org.
