In 2016, we created a festival... Now it's time for 2019!

By being a part of the Southend Fringe Festival means you will directly add to the cultural landscape of the area and become part of the local community.

Below is the application form for acts who would like to perform in the fringe this year. The dates of the festival are 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th of July and this application is for performances predominantly on the Saturday 13th July. Some acts may be asked to perform on the other dates but we will discuss this with you at a later date.

Please read the following points very carefully:

Pieces can be a MAXIMUM of 45 minutes in length.

Whilst we will be providing a technician in each space, which you may or may not wish to utilise, the lighting and sound set up will be very basic to accomodate our lovely wide variety of shows.

All set must be provided and removed by you and your company on the day of your performance.

Tickets will be available to buy for friends and family for the whole day you are performing, this encourages a diverse shared audience for all the shows on that day. All profits go into putting the lights and sound and roof over the fringe.

VENUES ARE TBC SO PLEASE DO NOT PLAN YOUR PERFORMANCES AROUND PREVIOUS SPACES.

Important dates:

There is a £20 fee to cover all aspects of hosting your piece for the day for each application (East 15 students and graduates are exempt from this charge)

Upon applying you will receive an email with a contract that you must sign and an invoice for the £20 hosting fee if applicable. This should be signed and returned by April 1st 2019.

Once the deadline has closed for contracts you will be sent a full welcome pack to the festival. In this welcome pack you will be given helpful information and tools to help make the festival an enjoyable experience.

Please note however, if you should fail to perform or pull your act from the festival after May 18th 2019 you will be charged a £50 fine.

And finally whilst we understand that the majority of pieces will be devised and you may have no idea what you're doing yet, please try to complete the questions as best as you can. You can chat with our performers liaison as the process goes on if things evolve!

All the best,

Southend Fringe Festival '19
