Greetings Volunteer Anglers!

Thank you for a successful 2018 season for the California Collaborative Fisheries Research Program at Bodega Marine Laboratory! To our 2018 volunteers, please look for an announcement soon for our Volunteer Appreciation Day in May 2019, when we'll reminisce, see photos, and check out some of the data we collected!

To sign-up for CCFRP BML 2019, please add your name and contact information to the form below. We will announce the dates for 2019 sampling as soon as possible, but we are again targeting late July to early September.

Thank you for your continued support- we are grateful to all who have volunteered and we look forward to working with as many of you as possible this year!

For more info on the program, read on below:

We are in our 3rd year collecting data for fisheries management and the monitoring of California MPAs through catch and release fishing surveys! Our program seeks to bring together scientists, sport fishers, and commercial fishing crews to work together to evaluate the marine reserves in our area using catch-and-release sampling by hook-and-line fishing. Our aim is to keep everybody safe and to have fun while we collect useful data that will help us keep fisheries healthy for generations to come!

If you are interested in participating, please fill out this Google form to join the mailing list for our upcoming 2019 sampling trips! When the trip dates are finalized, we will contact you with a form to allow you to request specific fishing days. These trips are managed by Bodega Marine Laboratory and will be departing out of Bodega Harbor. Once the trip request form opens and the first notice goes out, we will begin filling trips on a first-come-first-serve basis. If you don't get a spot right away, but are flexible in your schedule, look out for announcements regarding last minute openings.

Volunteer anglers should have a fair amount of experience fishing in the marine environment and be AT LEAST 16 YEARS OF AGE. All participants must be able to spend extended periods of time (e.g., <12+ hours per day) on a recreational fishing boat, in potentially rough waters. Please note that there will be NO INDIVIDUAL TAKE on these cruises, in accordance with our CA Dept. of Fish and Wildlife scientific collecting permits.

Each individual trip date assumes a 6 am boarding time and returns to the dock late afternoon/early evening (3-6 pm). However, departure & return times are slightly variable and dependent upon conditions.

If you have a friend who would like to participate with you, they must fill this form separately-- feel free to forward this form to any other interested individuals!

Your place on a trip is not guaranteed until you have received a confirmation email from our volunteer coordinator. Please wait for this email from our volunteer coordinator for details on your confirmed trips. If you have any questions about this process, please email bmlmorganlab@gmail.com.

Thank you, and we look forward to a great season of CCFRP sampling at Bodega Bay!
