Girls Talk Math at the University of Maryland
Thank you for applying our summer enrichment program! Girls Talk Math is a free two-week summer day camp hosted by the Department of Mathematics at the University of Maryland. Rising-9th to rising-12th grade students who attend high school within driving distance of the University can apply. Note this is NOT a residential camp, so participants need to be transported everyday. No GPA or minimum course requirements: just interest, curiosity and excitement!
Camp activities involve learning mathematics outside of the standard curriculum [such as cryptography, dynamical systems and quantum mechanics], attending mini-lectures on math, as well as recording and publishing a podcast about a famous female mathematician. Campers will summarize their discoveries in blog posts. Please note this is not a remedial camp and our goal is to teach you math outside of standard high school curriculum. To find out more about the material, visit
to see last year's Blog and Lectures.
Part of the application must be filled out by the camper, with particular attention to the "interest paragraph", which will be considered when acceptance decisions are made. The rest can be filled out by a parent or guardian.
The applicant has the option to supplement their application with a teacher recommendation.
