The Merritt Basic Needs Center provides emergency transportation grants each semester for students in need. Students can apply for emergency transportation grants once per semester.

Students must meet the following requirements:

1. Be enrolled in at least 1 class that meets on campus at Merritt College

2. Merritt must be home campus.

3. Demonstrate need

Transportation grants are available in limited quantities. Applications will be reviewed and recipients will be notified via email with updates.

First-Year Experience IMPACT Program (FYE): a year-long program designed to help incoming students ease into college life in a supportive environment.

PUENTE: a program that has helps students reach their dreams of college success through accelerated writing instruction, intensive academic counseling and mentoring.

SANKOFA/UMOJA: a program whose primary focus is on the achievement of African-American students. Umoja/Sankofa’s services are open to all students who desire the nurturing services offered by the program.

Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS): a state-funded program designed to ensure campus access and provide support services to students who face economic, language, and social barriers

Cooperative Agencies Resources for Education (CARE): a subset of EOPS, designed to provide extra educational support services to EOPS students who are also single parents receiving CalWORKs cash aid.

CalWORKS: a program designed to collaborate with neighboring county social services departments for the purpose of helping families with dependent children to transition from receiving public assistance to becoming self-sufficient in the work force.

Student Accessibility Services (SAS): a program designed to provide services and accommodations for students.

Military or Veterans Resource Center Services

CAFYES/NextUp: a program designed to support current and former foster youth
