K9WLDU Application 1 - Enrollment Screening: Pathway Determination
Handler-Canine Team Enrollment & Certification Pathway

This is the required first step for anyone applying to K9 Water Leak Detection University (K9WLDU). It gathers a short profile of the handler and canine so K9WLDU can recommend the appropriate pathway before any further applications are submitted. This screening does not, in itself, enroll a Team in any program.

The outcome of this screening is a pathway recommendation only. It does not guarantee acceptance into the recommended program, ORTE enrollment, or K9PDA certification.

The Three Pathways
Based on your answers, K9WLDU will recommend one of the following:

Pathway A - Direct Entry ORTE: For experienced Teams who may be ready to test directly into the Operational Readiness Training & Evaluation. Leads to Application 3 (ORTE Readiness Screening).

Pathway B - Professional Team Development Program: Full vocational training for new handlers, green dogs, or Teams needing foundational instruction. Leads to Application 2 (Full Vocational Enrollment Application).

Pathway C - Hybrid / Partial Pathway: For Teams with mixed readiness, such as an experienced handler with a green dog or an experienced dog with a new handler. K9WLDU designs an individualized plan following a brief consultation.
