Auditions are open to all actors age 18 and older. Each participant will be expected to volunteer on one or more of several committees including set construction, painting, marketing, costumes, or props. Cast members must be available to help with load-in and set construction. Specific times and dates will be provided during rehearsals.
Photos or videos taken during rehearsals, events, or productions may be used by point2productions for marketing purposes and remain the property of Schaumburg On Stage/point2productions without compensation to the participants.
Each participant is responsible for their rehearsal materials; they are to be returned to the Production Coordinator no later than the final tech rehearsal, (July 17, 2019). If lost or not returned in the condition provided, a fee of $25.00 will be assessed.
Godspell is a community theater production. There is no stipend or cast fee. You may be asked to supply specific shoes and costume basics at the request of the director or costume designer.
Callbacks will be by invitation only on May 23rd from 7:00 pm until 10:00 pm at the Schaumburg On Stage studio.
Auditions will be held in one hour time slots. Please sign up for a time slot below and expect to be there for at least one hour. Walk-in auditions are welcome, however priority will be given to those who have filled out the online audition form.
Please wear comfortable clothes to move in for the dance portion. Dance shoes are recommended. The choreographer will teach a short dance combination in small groups.
Vocally, you should be warmed up and be prepared to show range. You are expected to have a 32 bar selection from a musical of your choice prepared that will highlight your vocal range and strength. Your audition song does not need to be from Godspell, but should be of a similar musical theater genre. An accompanist will be provided.
During your audition you may be asked to improvise a short monologue or scene based on a random prompt. There is no preparation needed for this.
If you are invited back for callbacks, you will be expected to do cold readings of selections from the script alone and with others. You will also be asked to sing various song selections from the show.
PLEASE BRING A PHOTOGRAPH OR HEAD SHOT WITH YOUR NAME ON IT WITH YOU TO YOUR AUDITION TIME. You may also bring a Resume. Resumes and photographs will not be returned. Each participant is required to be in attendance during the rehearsals they are scheduled. No absences will be tolerated during tech week. (July 15-17), or for performances (July 18-21).
