First Presbyterian Church Camping Trip
Looking for fun family get away for Labor Day weekend? Then come join us August 31-Sept 3 for our annual camping trip to Black Mountain/Briar Bottom Campground. All school age campers must have a responsible adult in attendance with them.  The campground sits at the base of Mt. Mitchell, the highest peak east of the Mississippi River, in Pisgah National Forest. We have 2 group tent sites(Red Oak and Dogwood..see pics below) reserved offering full shade camping areas, fire pit, shelter with picnic tables, and playing field. The campground is equipped with flush toilets and campers can use showers at the adjacent Black Mountain Campground.  There is no shortage of things to do, including picnicking, day hiking, scenic driving and trout fishing. There are a variety of hiking trails from which to choose, including a leisurely half-mile walk through the forest or a challenging 5.6-mile hike up Mt. Mitchell.  It is a weekend filled with fun, beautiful mountain scenery, friends, and fellowship. SPACE IS LIMITED so sign up now!

Things You Need to Know before camping..
This is a tent-only campground
Campground open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. The gates are closed and vehicle entry is prohibited during closed hours.
It is best to arrive during daylight hours for tent set up since lighting is limited at campsites.
Campers must enter through Black Mountain Campground to reach this facility.
This facility is located within a bear sanctuary; keep all food out of site in containers or locked inside a hard-sided vehicle, secure trash in provided bins and remove all food from area after eating
Keep ALL food and toothpaste out of tents to avoid attracting unwanted guests to the campsite.
THERE IS EXTREMELY LIMITED to NO cell/gps service on the campground. Texting may not even be possible. For emergencies, family members can contact the campground by landline at 828-675-5616.
There is no electric hookups on site. You can use portable, battery operated or car chargers if needed.
