Welcome! The Longwood Chorus is Boston's medical & science choir and we are humbled to be one of few such ensembles in the world. We welcome singers affiliated with Boston-area medical, healthcare, and/or science institutions. Our mission is to decrease medical burnout, promote emotional wellness, and perform high-quality choral music.

FAQ:
When and where do we rehearse? Tuesdays from 7:15 pm-9:15 pm at United Parish in Brookline MA. Attendance at all rehearsals is key to a successful semester. That being said, we understand that life happens! Please note that singers who miss more than 4 rehearsals per semester will need to check in with the Artistic Team to confirm continued participation.
When and where do we perform? Typically, Longwood Chorus has one full concert and one or two smaller run out concerts per semester. Our full concerts take place at All Saints Parish, Brookline.
What level of musicianship is needed? We are an auditioned ~110-voice ensemble with a high level of musicianship. The majority of our singers have prior choral experience or music background (i.e. playing an instrument or participating in other music ensembles), though prior experience is not required.
What is our make-up? Our singers are members of Boston's Scientific and Healthcare community. If you work or study in this field, you are invited to audition! When not in rehearsal, our singers are Doctors, Nurses, Speech Language Pathologists, CNA's, Lab Techs, Data Scientists, Robotics Engineers, Vet Techs and plenty more. If you're not sure if you qualify, please reach out to us and we'd be happy to discuss where you fit in!
What do we sing? Our programs are thoughtfully crafted and span a diverse range, from Renaissance motets to commissions by living composers. Past repertoire includes: Fauré's Requiem, Brahms' Schicksalslied, Arvo Pärt's Seven Magnificat Antiphons, Caroline Shaw's 'to the hands' with members of A Far Cry, as well as pieces by Melissa Dunphy, Carol Barnett, Moses Hogan, Anna Lapwood, and others.
How much are dues? As of Spring 2026, dues are stratified into three tiers. Singers are asked to self-identify with which category best describes them. If the payment of dues will cause undue financial strain, please reach out to the President who can happily discuss alternate options. We never let dues prohibit someone from participation!
Tier 1: Student Required -$60. If you are a full time student, this is your mandatory membership cost for the Spring 2026 semester.
Tier 2: Professional Required -$80. If you are a full time working professional, this is your mandatory membership cost for the Spring 2026 semester.
Tier 3: Full Value Optional -$165. This amount reflects the full operations cost of the choir per singer, per semester. We encourage all who are able to voluntarily select this amount and assist in ensuring the continued financial success of the choir! None must, but all may pay this amount :-)
