WiR Weekly Webinar 3.0 Application Form
Code for Africa (CfA) is the continent’s largest network of indigenous African civic technology and investigative data journalism laboratories, with over 70 staff in 20 countries, who build digital democracy solutions that are intended to give citizens unfettered access to actionable information that empowers them to make informed decisions and that strengthen civic engagement for improved public governance and accountability.

The Code for Africa (CfA) Wikipedian in Residence (WiR) community, is a network of African Wikipedia editors who are change makers, working collaboratively to improve Wikipedia and its sisters projects in Africa through cross disciplinary content development, editing, fact-checking and verification of information (on Wikipedia). The ultimate goal of the WiR community is to cultivate a pan-African network of skilled Wikimedians who will excel in fact-checking, editing, and content creation.

As part of its initiatives, Code for Africa is organising a series of free online webinars to empower Wikimedians with essential skills. Participants will learn to create Wikipedia articles from scratch, covering core aspects such as Wikipedia's history, principles, and structure. The sessions will teach setting preferences, enabling tools, and integrating categories. Advanced editing techniques, including creating visually engaging Wikipedia pages and countering misconceptions, will be emphasised. These webinars aim to equip Wikimedians with practical expertise for impactful contributions to Wikipedia.

Apply for the forthcoming Wikimedia in Residence (WiR) webinar starting from 17th January 2024.
