Welcome to our 2026 District 6990 RYLA Senior Counselor Application. We are so glad you are inspired to deepen your Rotary experience by giving your time and self to lead our future leaders. 

PLEASE READ THIS SECTION THOROUGHLY 

RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) is a weekend conference for high school sophomores from all across District 6990 (Broward, Miami-Dade, Monroe Counties and Grand Bahama Island). It's a packed schedule, filled with activities designed to improve communication, empathy, and understanding. 

Senior Counselors (SCs) serve as supporters and mentors for the Junior Counselors (JCs) who lead teams at the RYLA conference. Along with being by their JC's side at all times, SCs may be asked to perform tasks like timekeeping, picture-taking, and other behind-the-scenes duties. 

RYLA Senior Counselors Responsibilities Brief Overview

  • Must commit to a training session from 9 AM - 5 PM, Sunday, January 18th, 2026 in Coral Gables.
  • Must commit to being present for the entire conference, January 30-February 1, 2026 in addition to arriving at Sea Base Thursday afternoon, January 29th for set-up and final training. 
* Note that there are early mornings and late nights! You will be sharing a hotel-type room with another Senior Counselor. 
  • Must agree to follow Sea Base health safety guidelines 
  • Must agree to follow Rotary Youth Protection Guidelines and agree to a background check authorized by your signature below. 
We expect to receive more applications than we have available slots.
