This form is for those interested in auditioning for a position with the MSO.
We are currently auditioning for full-time positions in all string sections, as well as limited, select openings in oboe, bassoon, horn, trumpet, and percussion. Musicians in other wind and percussion sections are welcome to apply to be placed on our substitute list.
Qualified candidates will have some experience playing in a symphony orchestra, some familiarity with
standard orchestral repertoire, acceptable sight-reading skills, and the availability to attend scheduled
rehearsals and concerts for the season.
Full-time players are expected to be available for the following concert dates:
- Sunday, August 23, 2026 - 3:00 (at Harris Pavilion)
- Saturday, September 12 - 4:45 (Arts Alive at the Hylton Performing Arts Center)
- Saturday, October 17, 2026 - 7:30 (with Yevgeny Dokshansky, clarinet)
- Saturday, December 12, 2026 - 3:30 (Family Concert, with Mira Nair, violin)
- Saturday, March 6, 2027 - 7:30 (with Anita Graef, cello)
- Saturday, May 1, 2027 - 7:30 (with Lisa Tyler, piano)
Rehearsals are on Wednesdays from 7:30 to 9:30 PM at the Hylton Performing Arts Center. There is a dress rehearsal the Friday before all concerts from 7:30 to 10 PM. The dress rehearsal for the August concert is Saturday morning, August 22 from 10 AM to noon.
