Arts Award - Intro Day and Creative Camps
DEADLINE: Friday 5th April 2019

THIS FORM IS AN APPLICATION FORM ONLY; WE WILL NOTIFY YOU THE OUTCOME OF YOUR APPLICATION BY Monday 8th April 2019.

ThinkHigher students are being offered the opportunity to gain a bronze Arts Award qualification in any artform (or a combination of different artforms). Arts Awards are also available in silver and gold (gold attracts UCAS tariff points).

Arts Award Bronze is split in to four areas: Taking part in something new; be an audience member; research who inspires you in the arts and share your arts skill with others. We may consider the broad theme of identity and heritage.

Artforms include, but are not limited to: literature, performing arts, visual arts, dance, drama, music, hair braiding, poetry, spoken work, graffiti, breakin, henna art, MCing, DJing, painting, head wraps, drawing, pottery, digital arts, lego sculptures, puppets, carnival headdress, multimedia, photography, fashion, textiles and many more.

Wednesday 17th April - INTRO

This introduction to the Arts Award is a one day event on Wednesday 17th April (during the Warwickshire School Easter Holiday). You will attend on the day and take part in a variety of creative tasks and activities and understand what is required within the Arts Award Bronze portfolio. You will start to plan what you will do to complete your own individual portfolio.

Future dates you must consider when applying:

Saturday 4th May (please complete a separate application form) - TRIP to London (optional extra)

We have a Synergy Saturday trip coming up on Saturday 4th May to Breakin' Convention 2019 at Sadler's Wells in London.
Attending Breakin' Convention on Saturday 4th May is not essential, but is a great way of completing 'talking part in something new' and 'be an audience member'. If you are applying for the Arts Award and would like to attend on Saturday 4th May, please complete this form AND the application for Saturday 4th May trip to Breakin' Convention.

Tuesday 23rd - Thursday 25th July - CREATIVE CAMPS

The main Arts Award project will take place during the school summer holiday on Tuesday 23rd, Wednesday 24th and Thursday 25th July, followed by a showcase at a later date (date tbc). You MUST be available for these creative camps during the summer holidays. They are NOT residentials; you will return home each evening and just attend each day. You will also complete some independent work towards your Arts Award portfolio in your own time.

Attendance on Wednesday 17th April, Tuesday 23rd July, Wednesday 24th July and Thursday 25th July, plus a showcase at a later date (tbc) are essential.

All food and transport and catering is provided. Wear something comfortable, appropriate to the activities and suitable for the weather conditions. The intro, the trip and the creative camps are all free.

Places are limited and will be offered to students based on information provided in this application form. Please take the time to think about what you would like to write and then submit your application as soon as possible. You will be informed by Monday 5th April if you have secured a place on this project. Please remember to apply for the Breakin' Convention trip to London separately, if you would like to attend that event.
