Join Newark Green Team's Networking Committee and help us plan, coordinate, and host networking opportunities for environmental leaders in our community.
Responsibilities could include:
A Monthly Networking Mixer for Sustainability-Minded Professionals and Community Members. Held the Fourth Thursday of Each Month
1. Inception & Planning
- Identify the theme or focus for the month (e.g., climate justice, green jobs, clean energy)
- Confirm the fourth Thursday date and time
- Draft estimated budget and funding needs (if any)
2. Venue Selection- Scout local venues with eco-conscious values (e.g., plant-based restaurants, green-certified bars, galleries, coworking spaces)
- Confirm accessibility, capacity, and sound setup
- Secure reservation or formal partnership agreement
3. Sponsors & Special Features- Identify potential sponsor(s) aligned with the month’s theme
- Local businesses, green startups, foundations, or city agencies
- Curate a special feature:
- Guest speaker or panel
- Sustainability showcase/vendor table
- Hands-on activity or trivia/raffle
4. Creative & Communications- Draft flyer concept and language
- Coordinate flyer design (Canva or graphic designer)
- Write event description (Instagram, Eventbrite, newsletter)
5. Promotion & Outreach- Post flyer across platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, Newark Green Team channels
- Directly invite stakeholders, previous attendees, and aligned orgs
- Share with community calendars, local green groups, and media outlets
- Encourage partners and sponsors to cross-promote
6. Event Execution- Arrive early to oversee setup and signage
- Greet guests and guide flow of event
- Introduce speakers or lead group activity (if applicable)
- Capture content (photos/videos or delegate someone to)
7. Follow-Up- Send thank-you emails to venue, sponsors, and speakers
- Share recap post with highlights and next date
- Collect feedback via quick post-event form or IG story poll
- Update contact list and notes for next planning cycle
