Objectives
In compliance with state and district guidelines, the main objective in learning Spanish is proficiency. Spanish 2 builds on skills developed in Spanish 1. Students will continue to listen, read, speak and write in Spanish.  In year 2 they will increase their vocabulary, learn reflexive verbs, commands and how to express events in the past.
Availability
I am available most days before and after school. E-mail is the best way to contact me.
Required Materials
Pen or pencil and folder or 3 ring binder to write notes and organize handouts. The handouts for the class are the “textbook” and should be kept through the whole year.  The notebook will serve as the primary resource for students when preparing for tests and quizzes.
RULES
Be respectful.
Bring necessary materials to class each day-binder, pen or pencil and paper.
Be involved.  Learning a foreign language is an active process.
Do not do anything that prevents me from teaching.
Do not do anything that prevents others from learning.
Anyone caught cheating on a test or quiz will receive a 0 for that assignment.

ABSENCES
Students who are absent are responsible to keep track of their missed work, notes, and assignments. They should check my website & Skyward, then talk to me about any concerns or if they would like extra help catching up. I follow the American Fork High School Attendance policy.
CLASSROOM POLICIES
Students must be in their seats ready to work when the bell rings. The homework due for the next class will be posted on the back whiteboard and the front screen. Students should make a note of the homework assignment in their planners at the beginning of class.

Homework will be checked for completion and corrected by the students in class. In this manner, students receive immediate feedback on their work.  Therefore, if completed on time, full credit will be given.  Late work is marked at 60% except in the case of excused absence.

Late work and quiz re-takes for each unit are due 1 week after the unit test. At the end of each term the only late work that will be accepted is for the current unit. Special arrangements can be made with me in case of illness or emergency.

Students may re-take quizzes to improve their grade. However, each re-take will be scored with a lower maximum percentage possible. Re-take #1 will score at a maximum of 90%; Re-take # 2@ 80% etc.

o All quiz re-takes must also be done by 1 week after the unit test.
o Unit Tests do not have re-takes.

GRADES
Grading will be based upon total points. The amount of points in a term will be determined by the number of assignments given.  Grades will be computed by dividing the number of points earned by the number of points possible. Assignments will include homework, quizzes, tests, projects, oral presentations. The following grade scale will be used:

A = 94-100%     A- = 90-93% B+ = 87-89%
B = 84-86%    B- = 80-83%        C+ = 77-79%
C = 74-76%    C- = 70-73% D+ = 67-69%
D = 64-66%       D- = 60-63% F = 0-59%
