The Queens College Center for Teaching & Learning will be conducting a workshop on creating an online Teaching Portfolio. This two-day hybrid workshop will include online asynchronous “pre-workshop” activities followed by a face-face working session.
Pre-workshop ActivitiesParticipants will be provided with materials and guidelines on curating content for a teaching portfolio, and crafting an effective teaching statement. Participants will create a draft of a teaching statement, which they can revise with the help of the Center for Teaching & Learning.
On Thursday, October 18th, there will be drop-in “Open Office Hours” with the Center for Teaching & Learning between 3-6pm, which you can use to fine-tune your teaching statement, and select which material will best represent you as a faculty member.
Face-to-Face Workshop (Rosenthal Library 227), 10:00am-1:00pmOn Friday, October 19th we will utilize the materials developed during the “preworkshop” phase in a hands-on technical workshop where participants will set up a portfolio website and begin populating it with content.
At the end of the workshop you can expect to:• Understand what elements constitute a professional portfolio• Create a strong draft of your teaching statement• Walk away with the architecture for a website to house your portfolio and an understanding of how to get your content into it
