The Bear: Community Survey

As part of Glenview's branding initiative, we're building on our Village bear's story -- and we need your help!

Our bear has been watching over Glenview since 1917, when philanthropist Edwin Jackman gifted our fountain to the community with the motto "Hug the Bear" - meaning to embrace and care for each other. Over his 107-year journey, he's become a beloved symbol that local businesses have already embraced, with some calling him "Jack the Bear."

Now we want to build on this foundation and help more people connect with his story. Your input will help us expand how we share the bear's established legacy and make him an even more active part of our community today.

Whether you've lived here for decades or just arrived, your perspective matters. This is your chance to help shape how our Village symbol continues to represent the community values we all cherish.
