Illinois has a state mineral, a state snack food, a state bird, a state insect, but we don't have a state rock.  After months of research and interviewing educators, geologists, scientists, and rock collectors, we have narrowed it down to these three.

We hope to take these results to our state legislator in hopes to have support for us to get an Illinois rock documented as a state symbol.
