Shirley Boys' High School                                Host Family Application and Information
This form is for anyone interested in becoming a homestay/billet for an international student for the Five Schools Exchange. 

Please note: This is a billet style arrangement, however a $300 koha will be made to hosts. 

Students will travel to Aotearoa New Zealand from Melbourne/Australia, Nagoya/Japan and Nanjing/China. 

Dates: Sunday 19th April - Friday 1 May or Saturday 2nd May
Please note this includes 2026 Anzac Day long weekend from Saturday, April 25, 2026, to Monday, April 27, 2026. You are more than welcome to take your student away from Christchurch for that weekend, but we will require more details of your trip in advance for Health & Safety reasons. 

It may take around 15 minutes to complete this form, you will need to provide 1 referee name and contact information. 

We will carry out reference checks and police vetting prior to meeting you.  (as per Australian guidelines)

Are you happy for any person aged 18 and over residing at the residence to be Police Vetted. Under the Code of Practice this is a mandatory requirement for Host Families. This includes household members who live at home periodically such as over weekends or during university vacations If the Answer is no we cannot accept you as a host family. *

Are you or do you plan to operate as an Airbnb? If the answer is yes we are unable to use you as a host family. Please note that if you do decide to become an Airbnb, we require you to give us 2 weeks notice and we will be obliged to find alternative accomodation for our students *
