About Creative Challenge
Creative Challenge is AWESOME’s year-round artist-in-residency program that celebrates the bright young things living in regional and remote Western Australia. Two artists work in each community for one/two week to share their knowledge and skills. The program is process-driven, involving participants in research, conceptual development, and creation of artwork that communicates the uniqueness of their community.

These residencies aim to spark creative play, independent thinking, and storytelling, with our key aspiration being to give voice to young West Australian’s living in regional and remote communities. The program is renowned for offering high quality arts experiences, encouraging young people to consider their individual and collective community identity.

About the theme: Tell Me More
The 2020 theme "Tell Me More" celebrates the voices of young people living in Western Australia, encouraging storytelling. The theme invites discussion of important narratives in the community, within families, with friends and of self-identity. "Tell Me More" encourages participants to consider the value of stories around them, exploring how we can hear from others, give them a voice, and make a record of community history.  Children are empowered to celebrate self-expression, to be heard, and to listen.
Effects of COVID
In the interests of public health and safety, and due to border closures this program was put on hold for the first half of 2020. Now that most regional communities are comfortable to welcome outside visitors in for residencies we have a large amount of the program to present from August - December this year. We are currently prioritising looking for artists who have availability during Term 3.
