Survey of the impact that COVID measures and concerns on the use of licensed vehicles are having on your use of them
If you have used licensed vehicles [hackney carriages (Taxis) or private hire vehicles] in the last year, we would like to hear from you. We are interested in how you feel your need for using licensed vehicles may have changed during the COVID pandemic. We would also like to hear about how your use of licensed vheicles in the future is likely to be affected.

We value your opinion of the services provided by licensed vehicles. Please avail yourself of this opportunity to provide feedback and suggestions which will be used to help maintain and improve the level of services provided.

There are two broadly defined types of vehicle, which operate for hire in the UK. These are Hackney Carriages (Taxis) and Private Hire Vehicles (sometimes known as minicabs).

Hackney Carriages often have a “TAXI” sign on the roof and may be seen waiting on taxi ranks. These vehicles can be hired directly by approaching the vehicle and agreeing a hire with the driver. Hackney Carriages may also be pre-booked by telephone or mobile app.

Private Hire Vehicles do not usually have a TAXI sign on the roof, but may have another illuminated sign, with the name or phone number of the operator. Private hire vehicles may only be hired by pre-booking by telephone or internet app or web booking.

Some private hire journeys which are pre-booked through a private hire operator may be fulfilled by a hackney carriage.
