The Virtual Welcome Partner Program is for new Stanford international graduate students who: (A) have not lived in the U.S. for more than 2 months previously, (B) are not participating in other local summer or residence programs such as the Stanford summer program in intensive English, and (C) are not planning to stay with friends, country groups or relatives in the local area. This is a cultural/friendship program, where your local Virtual Welcome Partner (member of the community who has lived and worked in the area for several years) is volunteering to virtually spend time with you, before and during the first few days of your arrival at Stanford to help you get acquainted with the University and the area nearby.

We have a limited number of volunteer Partners in the Stanford area. Therefore, we encourage you to apply early. The program is intended to help you get familiar with the basics of life in the U.S and to provide you with local friends. After your application is received, we will make every effort to match you with a Virtual Welcome Partner from the community. Once you have been matched with a Partner, we encourage you to make online contact prior to your arrival. If your plans change, please let us know right away. A last-minute cancellation not only disappoints your local Partner but also prevents another student from participating in this program.

Placement with a volunteer Partner is based primarily, but not entirely, on the order in which your qualified application is received. For this reason, please apply as early as you can.
