Call for Artists: SV Creates & SJMQT
This RFP is open to artists who are living/working in the Bay Area.
The successful proposal will detail the artist’s vision for residency within the Women &
Children’s Center of VMC, the clear ideas for engagement of the hospitals’ population,
and the concept for the resulting artwork. The selected artist should have a proven
track record in working in community, site- specifically, and collaboratively.

A panel that includes representatives of SV Creates, the San Jose Museum of Quilts &
Textiles, and the VMC leadership will review all proposals.


RFP Announcement: January 10, 2018
Submission Deadline: February 25, 2018
Announcement of Selected Artist: March 15, 2018
Project Development: April - October 2018
Fabrication and Installation: October - November 2018

Required Documents
 Letter of Intent: This letter will describe your artistic vision and how it will
engage the particular site and community served. (One page maximum.)

 Project Proposal: Will include project details which will include core concept as
well as production timeline; community engagement outline; final work concept,
scale and materials, fabrication, and installation as necessary; and budget
breakdown. (Two page maximum.)

 Work Samples: (Please provide a minimum of 2 work samples) Cite relevant
and/or recent experience. Please include a work sample checklist with Title,
Dimensions, Materials, and Year; all samples must be sufficiently labeled.

 C.V

 Letters of Recommendation: Provide a minimum of 2 letters of recommendation
supporting your work and ability to execute on this project. Alternatively, they can
