Statehood Stories Interest Form
LWVDC’s Statehood Stories initiative demonstrates what a lack of Statehood truly means for DC residents and why it matters in their own words. As Americans, we should all care about this issue — fairness and equality matter in a democracy! We are looking for native DC residents, as well as those who have moved to DC from one of the 50 states to contribute their perspectives to the series. The interview takes place over Zoom and lasts no longer than 30 minutes. If you are interested in participating, please complete the following form and someone will contact you via email to schedule an interview.

These are the questions we will ask during the interview:

Name:

Occupation:

Hometown:

  1. Tell me a little bit about yourself. How long have you lived in DC?
  2. Why did you decide to move to DC? [if not DC native]
  3. What do you love most about living in DC?
  4. Could you talk about your own experience being disenfranchised, or in other words, what it has been like to lose the rights you had when you were living in one of the 50 states? // Could you talk about your own experience not having voting representation in our government?
  5. What does achieving statehood mean for you?
  6. What do you think needs to be done to get closer to achieving statehood?
