Please join Anakbayan Chicago, Malaya Chicago, Philippines-U.S. Solidarity Organization (PUSO), Palestinian Youth Movement, and the Chicago 2 Okinawa Coalition for an International Human Rights Day Panel! The event will feature a panel discussion, in addition to a couple other components:
Panel Discussion: Speakers from each organization will discuss how U.S. militarization has impacted communities in the Philippines, Palestine, and Okinawa, drawing connections between our movements and emphasizing how we can build a united front against U.S. imperialism here in Chicago. We'll conclude this discussion with a Q&A session.
Cultural Performances: We will have two short cultural performances — one to ground us at the beginning of the night and another toward the end of the program. Details still to come, but one performance will be a Tagalog song!
Tabling: We'll have a table set out where folks can come purchase various items to support our orgs (in the past, ABChi has sold t-shirts, zines, and accessories).

Haymarket House Info
Public Transit: 2 blocks from the Broadway & Buena stop on 36 bus; half a mile from Red line Sheridan stop.
Parking: Some free street parking is available. The small parking lot is available by request for accessibility only, due to limited spots. Please let us know if you need a parking spot for accessibility. While we can't guarantee parking spots for those who request it, we'll do our best to reserve spaces with Haymarket.
Entrances and accessibility: There are 8 steps up to the main entrance on Buena Ave. A ramped entrance is located in the paved parking lot through the gate on Clarendon. The ramped entrance can only be activated from the inside, so those who need to access it must text or call our point of contact for assistance. (We'll share details on point of contact with folks who RSVP.) Haymarket is wheelchair accessible, though all doors open manually.
Bathrooms are gender neutral.
COVID Protocol
Masking: Masks are required for the duration of the program. KN95 masks will be provided, but please bring your own if you have the resources. After the program, please remain masked when not actively eating or drinking.
Testing: Attendees are encouraged to take a COVID test the day of or before the event.
Taking Precautions: If you test positive, have been sick, or have been exposed to someone who's tested positive for COVID in the week before the event, please join us virtually.
Contact tracing: If you test positive in the week following the event, please email us (
anakbayanchicago@gmail.com) so we can inform attendees of possible exposure.
We will have air purifiers throughout the space thanks to Clean Air Club :)
Food
Catering: Food will be provided after the program (roughly 8:45 p.m.), including both meat and vegetarian Filipino dishes. We recognize this is a very late meal and apologize for the inconvenience. Please plan to eat before the event if needed.
Timing: With COVID and other health concerns in mind, we want folks to avoid eating while seated during the panel discussion. Again, please plan to eat before arriving, or after the panel. Thanks for understanding and keeping each other safe!
Cleaning Up: Haymarket has given us a great rate with the expectation that we will cover labor/clean up needs. Please help us keep the space tidy, throw trash in the trash cans, and clean up any plates and leftovers after the event. Thank you :,)
Donations
While donations aren't required to attend, we need help covering the costs of the venue, so any amount is much appreciated. A suggested donation amount is between $10 to $15. Thank you in advance!
