The Mosaic Center currently has 5 programs accepting volunteers. Please read the description of each service area below, and check the two programs that interest you most. A fuller description of each program can be found on The Mosaic Center website, www.themosaiccenterevans.org, under the "Programs" tab. *

GED: We are looking for GED tutors to work one-on-one with students, ages 18 and above. Subjects to choose from include math, social studies, science, or language arts. Some students may have learning delays or be somewhere on the autism spectrum. Tutoring occurs on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 9am to noon (there is also an option to tutor only on Mondays or only on Wednesdays).

The Center for New Beginnings: CFNB provides therapy to children and young adults on the autism spectrum. They work out of the Mosaic facility Monday through Friday. Therapists are currently looking for volunteers to help in a variety of ways, depending on interest. This could include reading stories to the kids, playing music or leading a music time class, setting up craft areas and/or leading a craft, helping therapists with cleaning, teaching a hands-on skill like planting flowers, etc. These opportunities are open during the week, between 11am and 2pm.

LIFE on the Spectrum: LOTS is a social group for older teens and young adults with developmental disabilities (autism, Down syndrome, etc.). We are looking for volunteers to help with set-up, event participation, and clean-up for our monthly dinner and activities. The dinners occur the last Friday night of every month.

*New Program*: TMC is in the pre-planning phase for a new program focused on children aged 10 to 14 who fall on the developmental disability spectrum. It would be similar to LIFE on the Spectrum but geared toward pre-teens and younger teens. The events would take place in the evenings, most likely on a Friday or Saturday. However, the program cannot be run without volunteers, so we are currently gauging interest.
