Allied Health and Nursing Training Pathways for IHSS Caregivers
The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) In-Home Supportive Service (IHSS) Career Pathways Program goes live on October 1st, 2022. This is an exciting optional program that provides training opportunities to enhance providers' skills. This program offers courses in General Health and Safety for Caregivers,  Adult Education, Cognitive Impairments and Behavioral Health, Complex Physical Care Needs, and Transitioning into In-Home Care. IHSS and Waiver Personal Care Services (WPCS) providers who have completed enrollment are eligible to be compensated for time spent attending and completing IHSS Career Pathways Program training courses.

As a second component of the IHSS Career Pathways Program, IHSS caregivers will be provided with information on healthcare career advancement opportunities.  These opportunities will include career education needed to enter clinical, social support, and administrative positions in the healthcare field. A summary of available healthcare career training will highlight programs that are: (1) affordable, (2) available statewide using online or hybrid formats (with digital access support), (3) accessible to English language learners, and (4) offer wraparound services and other support for individuals' advancement along stackable career training pathways.

If you offer allied health or nursing career education, we invite you to complete this survey with information about your programs.  By providing your contact information at the end of the survey, you will enable us to follow up with you about possible future opportunities to engage IHSS caregivers in your programs.
