SAVAGE LIBRARY RESOURCES - Howard County librarians share the wealth of free online tutorial and homework help, databases and other free classes offered by our nationally-ranked library system.
MIDDLE SCHOOL TRANSITION - The transition from elementary school can be challenging, for student and parent. Learn strategies, resources and tips to ease the transition and build a successful middle school career.
HIGH SCHOOL TRANSITION - Is your student on the doorstep to high school? Join an HMS teacher and a guidance counselor from HHS to explore high school course selections and content pathways.
NOT THE MATH I LEARNED!- Do you ever sit down to help your child with their math homework and think, “This isn’t how I learned it!”? Come experience math the way your child does every day. We will explore concepts using manipulatives and engage in worthwhile mathematical tasks. You will leave with tips and resources for supporting your child’s math learning at home.
RESTORATIVE PRACTICES- Staff from the Mediation and Conflict Resolution Center will be on hand to explain restorative practices and how you can implement strategies at home to improve family communications.
CYBER BULLYING- Howard County police experts will provide information and answer questions about what you need to know to keep your child safe online.
HUMAN SEXUALITY UNIT- Ms.Bond and Mr. Rettaliata, HMS Health teachers, will discuss the Human Sexuality curriculum and answer questions.
ASSESSMENTS- Mr. David Ebbe will explain how the PARCC and MAP assessments scores are used.
CANVAS (& other instructional apps) UNVEILED- Ms. Koehler will introduce the full capabilities of Canvas, GAFE etc. and describe how students and parents can make the most use of it. Check grades, locate assignments, search and use resources.
WORLD LANGUAGES- Everything you ever wanted to know about your student learning a foreign language while in middle and high school in Howard County.
HOWARD COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOL POLICIES- HMS Administrators will discuss HCPSS policies and procedures, share their experiences and answer your questions.
COLLEGE SAVINGS PLAN- A representative from T.Rowe Price, the company that manages the state's Maryland College Investment Plan under the 504 tax policy, will be on hand to discuss college savings options.
