TEDxCU Application
Welcome to TEDxCU and thank you for your interest in joining our team! We are thrilled that you have decided to  complete an application. We are all passionate about what we do and take our jobs very seriously, and we expect the same level of enthusiasm from all of our team members. Anyone applying (except for speaker coaches) Must be an undergrad student attending CU. For the people who are just discovering TEDxCU and don't know what we do, our team is responsible for planning and hosting a TEDx event in the second semester of every year. 2000 people come to our March event! Our team works throughout the year to make this happen as there are many moving pieces that need to be taken care of in order to cultivate a real TEDx experience.

Below you will see a list of our different teams and a description of what they do. Please read the different descriptions and choose the team(s) you are most interested in working on. There are opportunities to be be a member or take on a leadership role on these teams. You can specify below if you are interested in being a member or a lead. We encourage people from all majors and interests to apply!

Marketing & Creative Team

The Creative Team is responsible for the design and creation of all promotional materials for TEDxCU. Experienced in graphic design, social media or videography/video editing to make our marketing campaign come to life. Includes creating video content, any promotional posters, stickers, shirts, flyers, social media posts. The goal is to create the content to promote the event. They will work closely with the other teams to bring to life and make sure there is a cohesive branding vision. 

The Creative Lead will be in-charge of this team. People that apply for this role should additionally have good leadership and communication skills. IF APPLYING FOR LEAD POSITION YOU HAVE TO INTERVIEW

Speaker Experience Team

The Speaker-Experience team is in charge of all things related to selecting and coaching speakers. This team will review speaker applications, selecting and interviewing finalists, creating the speaker support guide, and working with speakers throughout the process. This team will also organize the speaker events, guide the speakers through the process of writing their speech, make sure they are on track, and provide general support. This team will also assist with finding local artists to perform on the main stage and will also work with the emcees on script development.

Outreach and Partnerships Team

The Outreach & Partnership Team focuses on two main things 1) Creating and implementing strategies for reaching audiences on the campus of CU Boulder and in the wider Denver/Boulder Metro areas. 2) Cultivating partnerships/sponsorships. The focus is on non-digital modes of engaging our community through things like CU residential hall campaigns, canvasing, and identifying interested community groups, and connecting with other organizations on campus to achieve audience engagement. This team will also raise cash and in-kind donations from corporate and community sponsors. Over all the goal is outreach with local businesses and the student population. This team will work very closely with the Marketing & Creative Team.

Operations & Logistics Team

The Operations & Logistics Team oversees all aspects of the event logistics, they are our event planners. From organizing all logistics related to speaker events to managing everything from set-up and take-down of the event itself, to communicating and coordinating with the venue’s lighting, sound, and stage crews. The goal of this team is to bring the vision of TEDxCU to life. In addition you will work with the videographers, stage designers, each team, and every other party involved with the cultivation and execution of the event. Finally you will be working with our event volunteers to create a unique TEDx environment make the event run smoothly. Experience in event organizing is a plus but not required. 

The Operations Lead position has been filled.
Audience Experience Team

The Audience Experience Team is responsible for ensuring all audience members have an enriching experience at our event. This team will be responsible for brining the event theme to life through audience activations, decorations, and engagement opportunities at the event. This team will also take the lead on guest check in and manage all front of house needs the day of the event. This team is also responsible for planning the after party and will work very closely with the Operations & Logistics and Creative Team.

Finance Team

The Finance Team is responsible for creating and managing the TEDXCU budget. The Finance team will work closely with the Center for Student Involvement (CSI) to identify on-campus funding sources, develop budgets with each director, and submit those budgets to CSI. They will carry out and record relevant financial transactions as well as coordinate the financial coding of these transactions with the TEDx Co-Leads and CSI. They will also be responsible for maintaining ledgers as well as budgeting/forecasting functions and audit related routines. It requires extreme attention to detail and an understanding of the infrastructure of the CUSG rules. TEDxCU has a detailed timeline of everything that needs to happen, as well as specific guidelines that will greatly aid with the process so there is a specific structure associated with this team.(Small team up to 3 people)

The Finance Lead will be in-charge of this team. People who apply for this role should have great attention to detail and comfortable managing a large budget and possess project management and accounting skills.
