The Orange County Arts Commission (OCAC) and Orange County Arts Alliance (OCAA) will host the 8th Annual Paint it Orange Plein Air Paint-out Fundraiser September 28 - October 4, 2024. Local and visiting artists will experience the beauty, charm, and rich history of Orange County by painting en plein air (in open air), capturing sites unique to our region. Artists will submit up to two of their favorite paintings for juroring on Friday, October 4 at the Eno Arts Mill Gallery in Hillsborough. An Awards and Preview Party for artists and sponsors will take place from 5-6pm, followed by a reception and "Wet Paint Sale" from 6-9pm. The exhibit will remain through the end of November. Last year's paint-out was a great success, drawing more than 75 artists and featuring over 150 works of original fine art.
ORANGE COUNTY RURAL SITES
Orange County's farms and rural sites have always been a draw for Paint it Orange artists, but unlike in busy downtown areas, artists are sometimes unsure of where they are welcomed in our rural community. By registering your property, you will help us create a list of rural sites, list them on our maps, and allow us to display "Paint Here" sign(s) at your property.
HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW...
- There is no cost or burden to you! All you have to do is say you will allow painters to paint on your property. We will provide you with a “Paint Me” Paint it Orange Sign which will be delivered the last week of September. Artists understand they are not to enter your home/porch or any outbuildings unless invited.
- You may have several painters, or you may have none. Artists are given a map with your farm listed as a potential painting site and are allowed to pick where they paint. By placing the invitation sign at your farm entrance, you will be telling passersby that you support the arts and artists, and that the arts support you!
- Painters are self supported and need nothing from you. They will bring their own chair, easel, water bottle, etc... That said, if you’d like, you are welcome to say hello!
- The week after the event, we will come to remove your sign so we can use it again next year.
- You are welcome to the public art show & party at the Eno River Mill on Friday, October 4, 6-9pm at the Eno Arts Mill (437 Dimmocks Mill Rd., #17). You’ll be amazed at the talent on display. You may even see your farm on canvas!
