Applications received by January 15, 2019 will receive first consideration. Applications received after January 15, 2019 will be reviewed on a rolling basis to fill any remaining performance slots.
The purpose of the Cultural Performances during the National Cherry Blossom Festival is to celebrate the friendship symbolized by the gift of flowering cherry trees from Tokyo to Washington, D.C. and to demonstrate cross-cultural exchange through a dynamic mix of American, Japanese, and other cultural performing arts. We are only able to support small groups or individuals (dance, musical) and strolling performances. Size range - depending on structures needed on stage - is 5-15 people per performance. Use of concrete space surrounding the stage is allowed.
Encouraged performances are those that:- incorporate live music- offer a cultural or traditional performance- are enhanced by cultural or traditional costuming- present a performance that is upbeat and enjoyed by many demographics- solicit crowd interaction
Once the application is begun, changes will not be saved until submitted. Therefore, applicants should be prepared to address the following information within the application:
