Diversity & Student Empowerment Program Application

The Diversity & Student Empowerment Program (SEP) is in it's 5th year at UCI. SEP is intended to introduce undergraduates to topics of diversity, race, inclusion, and Social Justice through course lectures and dialogue (8-12 units). This is a leadership development opportunity, and students will learn how to affect positive change on campus through research, policy, or programming. Students will have the opportunity to connect with other students from different backgrounds and to work together on collaborative projects. Students will enroll in 4-units in Winter AND Spring, with the option to continue in Fall to complete projects.
Class meeting time will be Wednesdays 3:00 - 5pm for both Winter and Spring quarters.

Students must participate in group dialogue with fellow students, faculty, staff, community members and leaders, guest speakers, and others. Students must complete reading assignments and be prepared to discuss them, as assigned, as described below. Students must complete reflections and written papers as assigned. Finally, students must participate in collaborative projects with fellow students.
