At Herron Classical Schools, we are committed to preparing students for academic success in a technology-driven world. To support this mission, we have implemented a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program. All students are required to bring a personal laptop or tablet to every class, each day.

To ensure compatibility with classroom instruction and access to academic resources, all devices must meet the minimum technical specifications listed below.

While families are expected to provide a suitable device, we understand that this may not always be possible. HCS offers a limited number of school-owned devices available for rent on a short- or long-term basis to ensure every student has access to the tools they need to learn effectively.

Minimum System Requirements for BYOD Devices

Wi-Fi Connectivity
Must support 802.11ac or newer

Battery Life
Minimum 6 hours of charge per school day

Operating System
ChromeOS, Windows 10+, macOS 11+, or iPadOS 15+

Screen Size
At least 9.7 inches

Keyboard
Built-in or Bluetooth keyboard (required for tablets)

Software Capabilities
Must support Google Workspace, PDFs, eBooks, and web tools

Antivirus/Malware Protection
Must be installed and kept up to date

Important: All HCS-issued rental devices from the 2024–2025 school year, including laptops and Wi-Fi hotspots, must be returned before receiving a new device for 2025–2026.
