Welcome to the application for the 2020 SRL Teacher Workshop!

Due to the COVID19 pandemic, this year's professional development workshop will be a virtual event at the end of July. Planning is underway to turn our three day workshop into virtual sessions that focus on preparing new teachers and teachers interested in reconnecting and strengthening their media production and journalism skills for a successful year with SRL. Teachers will learn different strategies for aligning our project-based learning program through a range of participation to help students find their voices inside and outside of the classroom.

During the Workshop you will:
• Explore the SRL curriculum, timelines and expectations with peers and experienced instructors.
• Share best practices and ideas for classroom management.
• Learn how to get buy-in from your principal, school administration and local media.
• Find out how to help your students tell stories with a unique youth perspectives about community issues.
• Work with public media professionals to connect your classroom to the world through local PBS stations.
• Meet your next best friends and colleagues in the field.
• Come away inspired, energized and brimming with ideas for the coming year!
