Parasite Management in Livestock Workshops

Join us for a two part series to learn about parasite management in livestock. We will discuss best management practices for controlling parasites in our herds and flocks.

Part one: We will discuss fecal egg counts (FEC): why we do them, utilizing results to make management decisions, benefits, and limitations. Participants will learn how to perform a FEC. All livestock will be included for the discussion; however, there will be a large focus on small ruminants.

Part two: Hands-on training for certification in FAMACHA. FAMACHA is a management tool that allows small ruminant producers to assess anemia in sheep and goats caused by the barber pole worm. Participants will be taught the proper way to evaluate an animal for barber pole infection utilizing FAMACHA.

Part two - Wednesday, July 20, 8 a.m.-11 a.m. - Local Davidson County Farm, Location TBA

Cost is $5 per session, per person.
