Thank you for your interest in volunteering for "Parallel Veins"! It is a hybrid theatre and film project which consists of a local Black and API artist showcase, as well as a pre-recorded interview portion discussing each performer's experience and inspiration. It will also address anti-Asian hate, anti-Black colorism within the community and ways to positively move forward together.
Though Director Johánna & Tech Director/Stage Manager Maggie may be at the West Sacramento Community Center about an hour before rehearsals begin, behind-the-scenes crew members (assistant stage managers, camera operators, booth light or sound assistants, scene-changers) will generally be called at least 30 minutes before the performers are. If we need you there sooner, we will communicate and verify your availability in advance.
Front of House crew members (i.e. box office attendants, concessions/merch, ushers) will only be called on performance dates and to help strike (clear the space), as needed. They are also welcome to attend the last technical rehearsal on May 19 if they would like to preview the show and get the lay of the land ahead of time.
Social media & web content coordinators are always needed! This would including filming behind-the-scenes content, creating reels and making posts for our Instagram account. They would need to attend at least half of the rehearsals and performances.
Performers and crew members must be age 18+. In order to be unmasked inside, participants may be required to provide proof of a COVID-19 bivalent booster vaccine and a negative rapid antigen test result dated within 48 hours before the photoshoot. Unvaccinated participants must remain masked indoors and submit a negative PCR test result dated within 48 hours. These records may be emailed beforehand.
