SJS Japanese Homestay 2017-2018

Homestay is an essential aspect of our school and gives all involved a huge opportunity to experience each other's cultures, but an amazing opportunity to continue building long-lasting relationships with schools and organizations in Japan. Homestay is also an opportunity to fund-raise for SJS.. So far this year, we have raised approximately $10000 through the donation of homestay stipends as well as other miscellaneous donations. Additionally, these schools are offering to host us in summer 2017!!!!

In the next school-year, we have three amazing opportunities for you, your family to experience Japanese language and culture first-hand. Here they are:

1)Aozora Gakkou Camp: We have 10 (confirmed) kids of middle-school age coming from 7/28-8/05 (during Aozora). Both boys and girls will be coming. Stipend/Benefits: You will receive a small stipend to help offset the costs. Students will have the opportunity to go on two special field trips with their host students.

2)JLEAP: We have a trained and professional Japanese intern who will be with us for two years! We need a host-family from the end of August to November 30th. Her name is Keiko Suzuki. Benefits: Monthly stipend of $500 to help offset costs.

3) Shukutoku Yono (SEPTEMBER): We have approximately 44 students coming the weekend of 9/29-10/4. These are female high school students. It is requested that families take two students. There is a small stipend to help offset costs.

4) Shukutoku Yono (JAN-APRIL): We will have approximately 3 longterm female high school students for approximately 90 days. One student per family. There will be a small stipend to help offset costs.

Please consider hosting a student and fill out this form. Please forward this form to anyone that would be a good homestay for a Japanese student, and try to fill it out by May 15th. Thank you for your cooperation.

Please keep in mind, that all of these experiences can count towards your volunteer requirement of 20 hours, and to the team points of your student(s).
