P-CCS School of Choice Application 2019-20

The Plymouth-Canton Community Schools Board of Education passed a limited Schools of Choice resolution Tuesday, February 12, opening up a minimum of one seat for kindergarten through eighth grade with a maximum of 250 seats for the 2019-20 school year. For the third consecutive year, the district will enroll students through the school of choice provisions in Section 105 and 105c, which means that families from Wayne County and all surrounding counties (Washtenaw, Macomb, Oakland, Monroe) are welcome to apply.

The School of Choice application window will be open from midnight on Wednesday, March 13 through Friday, April 12, at 11:59 p.m. EST. The actual number of School of Choice students enrolled into P-CCS from outside of the District will depend on availability.

Families applying to the Plymouth-Canton Community School District under the School of Choice option are applying to the District and are not given the option to select a particular school. An application must be completed for each child you would like considered for School of Choice.

Applicants that are siblings of current P-CCS School of Choice students will be given sibling preference. According to state law, sibling applicants who are entering Kindergarten through 8th grade for the 2019-20 school year are eligible to apply, and sibling applicants are the first students to be considered when placement offers are made.

• Once accepted to Plymouth-Canton Community Schools, students will continue to be enrolled until they graduate from high school or move out of the eligible counties.
• There is no extra cost for this program.
• School of Choice students must provide their own transportation to school.

Special Education Note Regarding Section 105c School of Choice Program - Please note that if a nonresident child who is eligible for special education services resides in a contiguous intermediate school district, Section 105c requires that the enrolling district have a written agreement with the resident district of the student for the purpose of providing the student with a free appropriate public education and setting forth the responsibility for payment of the added costs of special education programs and services for the student. If a 105c agreement is not signed and finalized between the contiguous county districts, the student will be required to attend his or her resident district.

Additionally, if at any time after a nonresident student who is admitted to Plymouth-Canton Community Schools but resides in a contiguous intermediate school district becomes eligible for special education services, said student must obtain a release from his or her resident district via a 105c agreement, If a 105c agreement is not signed and finalized between the contiguous county districts, the student will be required to return to his or her district of residence and will no longer be permitted to attend Plymouth-Canton Community Schools.
