AmeriCorps VISTA Summer Associates Application
The United Way of the Ocoee Region is excited to announce the availability of AmeriCorps VISTA Summer Associate positions. The VISTA Summer Associate Members will be placed at local projects in Bradley County where they will serve these community-based organizations for 10 weeks to work towards poverty alleviation. VISTA Summer Associate projects help meet community needs and make a lasting difference for low-income communities. Summer Associates are key players in enacting the vision of AmeriCorps VISTA – helping to empower low-income communities and drive positive change from within.
Skills & Qualifications
Specific VISTA Summer Associate member tasks may include academic tutoring; recruiting and training community volunteers; establishing partnerships with local businesses, organizations, churches, and schools; developing processes and systems to effectively manage volunteer and client data; planning community meetings; handling public relations; creating marketing and outreach materials; teaching computer literacy skills; developing and implementing trainings; or facilitating meetings.

The successful applicant will have the following job skills/characteristics:

• Ability to organize and execute projects with little direction or supervision
• Organizational and administrative skills as well as superior written/verbal communication skills
• Ability to be flexible and effectively work as part of a team
• Basic computer skills, knowledge of web design and social media would be beneficial
• Heart for service to community and people of various backgrounds
• Ability to facilitate meetings and speak publicly about the served organization
• Professional tact (VISTAs will be responsible for working with local nonprofit leaders and community professionals)
• Enthusiasm
