Part Two – Agreement between Instrumental Music Teacher and St Philomena’s Catholic High School for Girls Parents / Carers (Standard) 2021-2022
Music instrument lessons taken on school premises:-
1. Parent submits a request for their daughter to learn a musical instrument to the Head of Music, Mrs Waite, with agreement that their contact details will be passed to the relevant Instrumental Music Teacher.
2. Upon contact with the Instrumental Music Teacher, parents will submit the completed Appendix A agreement form to the Instrumental Music Teacher, with payment, at least one week prior to the start of the lessons per term. Instrumental Music Teachers may provide their own contract in addition to this agreement. Please note that no lessons can begin without receipt of a signed agreement and payment.
3. It is the expectation that all students learning a musical instrument participate in at least one ensemble or group for performance at a school concert or recital evening, after a minimum of one year’s tuition or playing at Grade 2 and above.
4. It is the responsibility of the parent and student to:-
Regularly consult the timetable sent to you from the Instrumental Music Teacher
Inform the Instrumental Music Teacher should there be an absence.

Respond to all reminders of payment
Check with curriculum teachers if an exam or assessment will affect music instrumental lessons and negotiate alternative arrangements with the Instrumental Music Teacher
5. It is the responsibility of the Instrumental Music Teacher to:-
Inform parents if a lesson is missed without prior notification.
Provide a termly review informing parents of the progress that students have made.
6. To discontinue an agreement, parents will provide the school with a term’s notice in writing given to both the Head of Music, Mrs Waite, and the Instrumental Music Teacher.
